ADHD or Convergence Insufficiency?

Today, a friend of mine had her son at the eye doctor based on recommendations from the child's music teacher. Her son was having difficulty tracking the music as he played, but when the teacher held a pencil on the line to help him, he played perfectly.
The condition he has is called Convergence Insufficiency (CI). I have never heard about the condition but apparently it is not picked up on the regular eye exams given routinely at school or at the pediatrician. After the exam, the doctor commented to my friend that some students are misdiagnosed with ADHD or other learning disabilities when the difficulty could be with the child's eyes.
I had to learn more about this! I found out this upon a Google search:
"Convergence Insufficiency ;...means that the eyes do not come together closely enough when looking at a near object...so the eyes are essentially looking "past" the target focal point." https://www.covd.org/?page=convergence
Check out these two links . One tells patient stories of how their vision has improved after being treated for CI. and the other website explains the relationship of ADHD with CI.
